Osmena Peak: A little outdoor adventure for everyone

one sunny summer afternoon, we decided to get some adrenaline rush to our lazy office body.

we got to our motorcycle and headed south this time, 2hr drive to Osmena Peak in Dalaguete to Cebu's highest peak in the southern part.

this trip was very budget friendly cost us 1200 for gas, food (breakfast, snacks lunch &drinks), guide fee & parking fee.

from lapu lapu city we left at around 6:30am passing by south road properties, breakfast stop at jollibee carcar city, then to dalaguete.

below are some of the rough road on the way to the base of the peak.

the base of the peak and the surrounding communities is said to be the vegetable basket of Cebu.

the base is where you park your vehicle, log in for tourist monitoring and get some guide if you want. most guides are kids who leave nearby, even if you dont need a guide i suggest get one or two so you can help them as well, give 50- whatever tour heart desires to give them and add food and water, your kindness is much appreciated and you can see it in their smile.

so up we go to the peak, where my cardio was a bit challege as heart beat and pulse rate rises as we climb up hill at 9:30am. the view however is breath taking!!! the rock  formation is truely natures work of art.

climbing to the top requires quite an energy but it is not a race so we just took our time. for others who want to try this trek i suggest to bring tents for shade and camping is much preferred than a days adventure. you can relax more and explore more peaks, for us we just tried 2 peaks and called it a conquest.

osmena peak climb is a really nice outdoor activity, even if it is just a begginers trek its a fun adventure for all ages.

here's our pose with our guide Jerson. he is doing this gig for extra income and for the up coming school opening. the perks of getting a guide is you get to know the place more plus extra tip on where to go next for a side trip and a dip in the cold waters of Cambais Falls of Alegria.

i will be featuring cambais falls in my next post.

Happiness

When i was younger, the search for happiness was my only goal. years passed and happiness for me seemed very illusive... it was a very difficult dream to achieve, there were days when i felt i have achieved it in a form of puzzle where all the small pieces i gather and appreciate it as a whole... then suddenly i get off track and feel sadness that surpasses all the small pieces...

one day i read an article over the internet, and what made an impression in my mind was that know what makes you happy and do just that. so i changed my goal to focus on what makes me happy... it is in giving and sharing and helping that makes my mind body and soul happiest...

i've always wanted to make something meaningful each year like a feeding session with orphans or street children, make an NGO to help others, or simply give out something special to the needy during christmas. these activities are my hearts dreams and vission since i was young... though each year i try to make little plans and do little stuff like these, unexpectedly this year was a much bolder bigger steps to the realization of this dream... and finally knowing the true happiness ive been searching...

unfortunately all these came after devastating calamities hit our country, Philippines specifically the Visayas region which where i am leaving with my family. First an oil spill near our place which affected hundreds of families that depended on fishing. then came the earthquake in Bohol that affected thousands of families and the worst the super typhoon that left millions of families homeless, livelihoodless and many lost their love ones.

Thankful to have been spared from these tragedies i made the first step to reach out in any way i can to help out, and asked some friends to help out, and from there we were able to ask more friends and friends of friends to help out on our cause and were able to help as many people as we can...

our humanitarian relief operations, feeding and gift giving for a cause to the various areas affected by all the calamities we have faced change me a lot. it made me a happier person and a more fullfilled individual... the help we extended was more of the helped i needed most...

this thing that i am doing now is only the beginning of the purpose i was made by God... thank u Lord for this life...
